As part of Malta’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Malta will host a gathering of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), featuring sessions of the Presidential Committee, the Bureau, and the Standing Committee.
In addition to the core sessions, Parliamentarians will be invited to take part in two thought-provoking side events. The first will shine a spotlight on Women Parliamentarians, exploring how women can – and do – break through societal barriers. The second, a roundtable discussion titled “Young People: Seen, Heard, and in Charge,” will explore the crucial role of empowering youth to lead and shape the present and the future.
At the heart of the Assembly’s operations, the Bureau steers the agenda, supports the President, and manages the Assembly’s external relations. On the other hand, the Standing Committee, brings together the Bureau members with the Chairpersons of national delegation chairs and convenes biannually in the country holding the rotating presidency. Their work feeds into the Assembly’s part-sessions and plenary meetings in Strasbourg, which brings together 306 representatives from national parliaments of the Council of Europe Member States.
