Meeting of the Coordinating Bodies of the Istanbul Convention

06 Nov 2025

To conclude the Maltese Presidency of the Council of Europe, the Commission on Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence, within the Parliamentary Secretariat for Equality and Reforms, will convene the 3rd Meeting of National Coordinating Bodies Established Under Article 10 of the Istanbul Convention.

This meeting aims to bring together high-level representatives from various coordinating bodies from countries signatories to the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention), promising a thematic discussion on the response of judicial systems vis-à-vis gender-based violence and domestic violence. The role of the judiciary in combatting gender-based violence and domestic violence will also be considered. Furthermore, it will analyse the progress achieved through the recently adopted reforms and policy roadmaps whilst also addressing key areas of concern related to the prevention, protection and prosecution of gender-based violence cases.
