Established in 2002, the European Commission for the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ), is dedicated to improving the quality and efficiency of the European judicial systems and strengthening the court users’ confidence in such systems.
At the heart of its efforts is a biennial Evaluation Report on European Judicial Systems, a flagship publication that offers a comparative analysis of judicial performance across Europe. Beyond evaluation, CEPEJ actively supports member states in their reforms on court organisations, promotes the quality of the public service of justice and facilitates the implementation of standards in the field of justice. These initiatives help strengthen institutional capacities and align national systems with European standards.
As part of the policy programme under the Maltese Presidency, CEPEJ will hold a series of meetings in Malta, chaired by Mr Justice Francesco Depasquale, the Commission’s President.
