Since its inception in 2013, the IDAHOT+ Forum has become one of Europe’s foremost platforms for promoting LGBTIQ+ rights, equality, and inclusion. Held annually in recognition of the International Day Against Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia, and Intersexphobia (IDAHOT), the Forum convenes government officials, civil society leaders, policymakers, and advocates from across the continent.
On 20 May 2025, Malta will proudly host the 12th European IDAHOT+ Forum—marking the first official event of its Presidency of the Council of Europe. This year’s theme, “Advancing SOGIGESC Equality and Inclusion in a Transforming Europe” reflects the dynamic and evolving landscape of human rights in the region. The Forum will explore strategies to enhance inclusivity, equal treatment, and confront the complexities of discrimination in an increasingly diverse and interconnected Continent.
The European IDAHOT+ Forum offers a critical moment to evaluate the state of LGBTIQ+ rights in Europe. It invites reflection on the progress achieved, the ongoing challenges faced by the community, and the critical need for sustained cooperation and joint action. With an eye on the SOGIESC equality agenda, the Forum seeks to challenge the forces of violence and discrimination that continue to threaten the safety and dignity of LGBTIQ+ individuals, striving for a Europe where equality is not just pursued but achieved.
The 2025 programme will feature high-level plenary sessions and informal parallel discussions, each contributing to the Forum’s central mission.
