The Maltese Presidency will host the 10th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Youth, under the theme “Young People for Democracy: Youth Perspectives in Action”.
Youth Ministers from across Europe will convene in Valletta to review progress in youth policy since 2012, reaffirm the Council of Europe’s leadership in the youth policy ecosystem, and set a strategic vision for 2030, building on the Reykjavik Declaration and mid-term strategy review.
A central focus of the discussions will be on embedding youth perspectives into policymaking, empowering young people as active agents of democratic change, and promoting bold, inclusive approaches to civic and democratic engagement. The Conference will also strive to equip policymakers with practical tools to co-create youth-centered policies across all levels of governance.
To achieve this, the Conference will bring young people and policy makers around the same table, with a view of fostering meaningful exchanges and synergies that drive impactful outcomes.
Launched in 1985 in Strasbourg, these Conferences have become essential drivers of European youth policy. By promoting open, intergovernmental dialogue, they shape forward-thinking recommendations, reinforcing the Council of Europe’s leadership in youth policy development.
