80 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe, we turn the spotlight to the women who stood strong in the face of adversity and held their families and communities together against overwhelming odds. In Malta, one of the most heavily bombed places of the war, these women not only supported their loved ones but also took on vital roles that ensured the resilience and survival of their society.
To honour their legacy, this evening will offer a culinary experience inspired by wartime resilience, featuring an eight-hands dinner prepared by four of Malta’s top female chefs, who will reinterpret the flavours of wartime cooking. Set to take place at the Château de Pourtalès, a historic château in the Robertsau district of Strasbourg, this event will combine historical stories, artistic performances, and discussions, paying tribute to women’s ingenuity and sacrifices during the darkest of days.
